Industrial Powder Coating

High-volume production runs and oversized fabricated parts, coated to hold up in the field. Serving San Diego manufacturers, fabricators and municipalities.

What Is Industrial Powder Coating?

Industrial powder coating is the same electrostatic dry-finishing process used on consumer parts, scaled up for production volume and heavy fabricated steel. Dry powder is electrostatically charged, applied to a cleaned and blasted substrate, then cured under heat into a hard, bonded film that resists corrosion, chemicals, impact and UV far better than wet paint.

For manufacturers and fabricators the difference is in the handling. Parts arrive by the pallet or the truckload, the finish has to match across every run, and the schedule is tied to a build date or a delivery date. That is the work this side of our shop is set up for.

Built for Volume and Oversized Parts

Anocote handles the industrial work most job shops turn away. Long structural members, large weldments and full fabricated assemblies, plus repeat production runs where every part has to come out identical to the last one.

We coat ferrous and non-ferrous substrates, blast to bare metal in-house before a single ounce of powder is sprayed, and mask and plug threads, bores and machined surfaces so parts go straight to assembly when they come back. Whether it is a one-time run for a capital project or a standing order feeding your production line, we quote it, schedule it and hold the finish consistent from the first part to the last.

Why Operations Choose Powder Coating

Four reasons finishing gets outsourced to powder instead of kept in-house on wet paint.

01

Lower Cost Per Part

Production scheduling and batch work drive the per-piece cost down as volume goes up, and overspray is recovered rather than lost, so material waste stays low.

02

Unlimited Color Options

Any RAL or custom color in gloss, satin, matte, textured or metallic. Color is matched and held consistent across every run of the same job.

03

Environmentally Safe

Powder carries no solvents and emits negligible VOCs, which keeps your finishing process on the right side of air-quality regulations.

04

A Finish That Holds

A cured powder film will not run, sag or flake the way wet paint does, and it stands up to weather, chemicals, salt air and daily abuse.

Other Substrates

Glass, MDF and certain plastics can be powder coated when the substrate will hold an electrostatic charge and tolerate cure temperatures. Ask us about your material before you assume it cannot be done.

We Pick Up Oversized Parts

Freight and forklifts should not be your problem. We run our own truck and pick parts up from your shop, yard or jobsite anywhere in San Diego County, then deliver the finished work back once it is cured and inspected.

For large fabricated assemblies and full pallets of production parts, that one detail is usually what makes outsourcing the finish worth doing at all.

Industrial Powder Coating Questions

What buyers, plant managers and fabricators ask us most before the first run.

What is industrial powder coating?

Industrial powder coating is the electrostatic application of dry powder to metal parts, followed by a heat cure that bonds the powder into a hard protective film. The industrial designation refers to scale and handling rather than a different process: production volumes, oversized fabricated parts, repeatable color across runs, and a schedule tied to your build or delivery date.

What are the benefits of industrial powder coating?

Lower cost per part as volume rises, no solvents and negligible VOC emissions, uniform film thickness on complex geometry that wet paint cannot match, a finish that will not run or sag, and consistent color from the first part of a run to the last.

What is the largest part you can coat?

Larger than most job shops will take. Long structural members, large weldments and full fabricated assemblies come through regularly. Send dimensions and weight with your quote request and we will confirm fit before you ship or before we pick up.

Do you handle repeat production runs?

Yes. Ongoing and recurring work is a core part of what this side of the shop does. Once a job is set up we hold the same prep, powder and process on every run so the parts you get in month six match the parts you got in month one.

What is your typical turnaround on a production run?

It depends on quantity, the prep required and current shop load. Production work is scheduled rather than queued, so once a recurring job is established we hold to an agreed cadence. Ask for a lead time with your quote and you will get a real date.

Can you mask threads and machined surfaces?

Yes. Threads, bores, bearing surfaces, sealing faces and any other critical tolerance are masked and plugged before coating so finished parts go straight to assembly without secondary cleanup.

Do you coat aluminum and stainless, or only steel?

Both ferrous and non-ferrous. Steel, aluminum, stainless and galvanized substrates are all handled, each with the prep that substrate requires, all done in-house.

Is there a minimum order?

No formal minimum. Small batches and one-time capital-project runs are welcome. The per-part cost simply drops as quantity goes up.

How well does powder coating hold up outdoors near the coast?

Well, and it is a large part of why coastal and marine infrastructure uses it. Corrosion performance depends far more on surface preparation than on the powder itself, which is why every part is blasted to bare metal and, where the application calls for it, given a primer coat before the topcoat goes on.

Do you offer pickup and delivery for large parts?

Yes. We run our own truck throughout San Diego County and pick up from shops, yards and jobsites, then deliver the finished parts back. For oversized assemblies and palletized production runs this is usually the deciding factor in outsourcing the work.
