Poway's 92064 zip code covers everything from equestrian properties along the trail network to tidy neighborhoods near Old Poway Park. Families heading to Lake Poway or the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve pass miles of fencing, and much of it is steel that was painted once and left to the sun.

Inland heat is the big factor here. Poway summers run hotter than the coast, and UV breaks paint down into chalk and flakes. Powder coating holds its color and gloss much longer under that kind of sun because the finish is cured into a hard, cross-linked layer.

A Poway driveway gate or corral panel lives a hard life: full sun, irrigation overspray, horses leaning on it and the occasional bump from a trailer. Paint lasts a season or two before it starts to peel at the welds.

We start by sandblasting every gate and panel to bare steel, which removes the rust that would otherwise keep growing under a new finish. The powder is applied electrostatically, so it wraps welds, hinges and the insides of tube steel, and then the piece is oven-cured into one continuous layer. The result is a finish that shrugs off UV, moisture and daily contact.

Wrought iron fence panels that have rusted at the bottom rail are a common Poway repair. After blasting, we can see exactly how much metal is left, and we will tell you if a section needs a welder before coating instead of hiding the problem under a new finish.
